Who’s covered
Employers with 10+ employees across virtually all commercial sectors (teleworkers excluded).
Required employer deliverables
- Written, site-specific Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP), accessible to employees at all times.
- Violent Incident Log: date, time, location, violence type (1–4), situational factors, and response actions.
- Interactive training on hire and annually thereafter.
- Hazard identification, evaluation, and corrective action records retained 5 years; training logs 1 year.
Penalties & enforcement
Up to $18,000 general/first-time; up to $25,000 serious; up to $158,727 willful or repeat — per violation, per worksite (compounding across locations). Enforced by Cal/OSHA.
