How this calculator works
OSHA’s General Duty Clause (Section 5(a)(1)) requires every covered employer to furnish a workplace “free from recognized hazards.” Where a lone-worker or workplace-violence hazard exists and a feasible abatement method is available, OSHA can cite the employer. As of 2024 the maximum penalty for a serious violation is $16,131 per violation, and the maximum for a willful or repeated violation is $161,327 per violation.
